      A1200 Hardware FAQ
      Author: Warren Block   Date Verified:
After putting together a much fancier document for the A4000 (the Amiga 4000 Hardware Guide), it was suggested that something similar was needed for the A1200. Additionally, I kept seeing the same questions asked over and over in comp.sys.amiga.hardware, and it seemed like a FAQ might help both those asking and answering the questions. Maybe it'll just change all the answers to say "Read the FAQ, you moron." Nah. Amiga people are more polite than that. They'd say "PLEASE read the FAQ, you moron.

Welcome to the Amiga Games Database. It's purpose is to provide Amiga games players with an informed but subjective opinion on a wide range of games. A vast amount of Amiga titles have been written, some of them more than a decade ago. We've all come across some awful software in our time, but for many of us, there's a surprising quantity of undiscovered classic Amiga games out there. The AGDB is here to help you identify them.       Amiga Networking FAQ
      Author: n/a   Date Verified:
The primary purpose of a FAQ is to preserve network bandwidth by answering Frequently Asked Questions. A FAQ's second purpose is to provide an altruistic public service to users and vendors. The Amiga Guide version of this FAQ is available on Aminet in the /pub/aminet/docs/help directory. Due to the method I'm using to write the FAQ, marking the margins to indicate new material is not feasible. Look for new questions towards the end of each list. Also look for ""!!!!"", strings of exclamation points represent new material or news flashes. Date 12/15/96

Be warned that this page is changing quite fast at the moment - I have a long list of things I want to add to it. It's likely to get into a bit of a mess from time to time until I work out what order to say things in. The Amiga Utilities page will tell you where to find a variety of fundamental Amiga utilities. Some of them, such as lha and installer, are simply vital, and a number of others have effectively become standard parts of the operating system - I should think very few serious Amiga users don't have reqtools.library

      Amiga Transactor Archive Page
      Author: Redskull   Date Verified:
This page is designed to be an archive of articles from the long defunct "Amiga Transactor" magazine. While probably no longer relevant in terms of the direction that the current AMIGA system is heading, these articles do contain some very in-depth info on the Classic Amigas, in many cases written by the hardware designers/programmers themselves. Click on the pics for a scan of the mags, or the links underneath for the articles. Only a couple of articles are online at the moment, but as I get the chance I plan to OCR quite a few more. If you have any copies of old "Transactor" mags that you would like to see added to this archive, send me an email. If anybody objects to these articles being available online, likewise.

CAPS. Classic Amiga Preservation Society. CAPS, the Classic Amiga Preservation Society, as the name implies, dedicates itself to the preservation for the future of classic Amiga software, namely classic Amiga games. As it is, these games are abandoned and in possession of mainly an ever diminishing community or well willed collectors. These games are detrimentally affected by the passage of time by their storing media, and these Amiga classics, a big part of gaming history, risk being lost forever in the near future. This tragedy must be prevented. CAPS main objective is to guarantee the preservation of such an important part of computer gaming history.

As Amiga Inc is about to re-enter the computer arena with new AmigaOS4 powered desktop systems as well as with 3rd party embedded products utilizing AmigaDE technology pre-installed, there are a growing number of people who wonder what an advanced classic AmigaOS currently offers. This was an important reason for me to write a simple to understand WinUAE tutorial, so this would hopefully help interested people with setting up a fun and easy to use emulated AmigaOS environment on widely available mainstream Windows computers. This article also includes many WinUAE screenshots and information on acquiring and using freely available software.

GAGE - Golden Amiga Games Encyclopedia
      Author: Dr.Zarkov   Date Verified:
The Golden (or Great, Growing, Glossy, Galvanic ;-) Amiga Games Encyclopedia originally started in AmigaGuide form with the goal to list all Amiga Games that were compatible with AGA and 68020+ Amigas. But, because so much games didn't work on upgraded machines, I (Dr.Zarkov) started testing them with all kind of degrading tools and added this information to the guide. After some time I showed the Guide to a friend who offered to create a website for it. Since that time the GAGE has grown enormously; instead of just sticking to the compatibility information I have added publisher information, cheats, docs, walktroughs and screenshots to all games…

Made on Amiga is currently closed. Don't worry though we will be back. A couple of months ago we started to have problems with the ISP that hosts the database, We have now signed up with a new ISP and rather than just migrate everything over to the new servers like we are doing with the other GonMad sites, we have decided to give MoA a bit of special treatment.

      No Amiga To Waste
      Author: G.Bevin   Date Verified:
DESCRIPTION OF THE SITE'S PURPOSE. PROBLEMS:A lot of commercial software houses have left the Amiga society and less 'state of the art' programs are released. Inspired and skilled programmers have become rare 'cause a lot moved over to other systems. Public Domain authors tend to have a strange habit of 're'-programming the same software tools over and over again. CONCLUSION:Make sure that every programming effort provides a final product that is useful, original, easy to use and up to date. SOLUTION: An online database that collects ideas, comments and wishes of the users. The contents can be freely consulted as long as every programmer reports what idea he's working on and how the development progresses.

      Official AmigaOS 3.9 FAQ

This FAQ is meant to provide answers to frequent questions regarding OS 3.9 and it's usage. I welcome all suggestions/feedback to this site. Constructive criticism is also accepted. Please note, however, that due to the large amount of e-mail I receive daily from the OS 3.5 & 3.9 mailing lists, as well as e-mail to me directly, I may not always be able to add as many entries as some would like. These pages are intended as a means of answering the most common questions or those pertinent to most OS 3.9 users

      Operating System Technical Comparison
      Author: Milo   Date Verified:
Overview: This web site compares and contrasts operating systems. It originally started out on a small server in the engineering department of Ohio State University to answer a single question: On technical considerations only, how does Rhapsody (also known as Mac OS X Server) stack up as a server operating system (especially in comparison to Windows NT)? The web site now compares and contrasts server operating systems and will in the near future expand to compare other kinds of operating systems.

Those of you who are Amiga owners - so fortunate and so few - can find most anything you need by following one or another of the linx on this here page. When you find whatever you're looking for, you can download it (of course while that's going on you can shove the screen in the background and do Cool Stuff in multitasking peace). By the way, let's all congratulate MicroSoft for Windows95. Finally, they managed to make PCs do at least SOME of the stuff that Amigas and Macs were doing 10 years ago - and with only 1000% of the RAM, and HD space. Great marketing job, Bill!

      Programming Textfiles: The Amiga
      Author: Jason Scott   Date Verified:
RJ Mical, and the Rise and Fall of Amiga Computer Inc. It was hard for me not to go completely over the top for the Commodore Amiga when I became aware of it in 1985. Here was a machine incredible graphics, stunning sound, amazing games, and a general sense that the thing could do most anything. I wasn't the only one; Amigas are still in use to this day for professional graphics work and video editing. But at the time, it just changed everything. Here's some files discussing the minutae of being a programmer on the Amiga.

On the face of things, we seem to be merely talking about text-based files, containing only the letters of the English Alphabet (and the occasional punctuation mark). On deeper inspection, of course, this isn't quite the case. What this site offers is a glimpse into the history of writers and artists bound by the 128 characters that the American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) allowed them. The focus is on mid-1980's textfiles and the world as it was then, but even these files are sometime retooled 1960s and 1970s works, and offshoots of this culture exist to this day.

The Big Old Chip List (Amiga Custom Chips)
      Author: RCR   Date Verified:
Way back in 1989, when I worked for one of the many CBM divisions, I kept a paper that had a list of custom chips that I ran across in my work. The list got a lot of requests and kept growing. When CBM went under I moved the list over to AmigaGuide. It is a simple idea. It is a AmigaGuide sorted by the chip name and its function. Within that there is information on the full chip name, CBM Part Number and Machines used in. The guide covers machines from A500 to A4000T (and AA3000/A3000+) and CDTV(II) to CD32. OCS to AAA chipsets. Cards such as Gemini & A2631.

So here it is: My very own knowledge database :-) All sources are complete programs and have been succesfully compiled with SAS/C 6.58. Note that unless specified the sources are only tested with WB 3.1 KS 3.1 on a A4000 with a CV64/3D graphic-card. They are not prepared to be started from Workbench. Have you a specific question about C or C on Amiga, don't hesitate to mail me. Note that I only use SAS/C so I can't answer any questions about other compilers.

      Your Guide to AmigaOne
      Author: AmigFlame   Date Verified:
Your Guide to AmigaOne. The final preparations are being worked out which will see the next generation Amiga known as AmigaOne make its official debut. Bill McEwen outlined in his latest Executive Update that there is a need to now properly plan, budget, and order for the production of the AmigaOne. To determine how many Amiga users want to get their hands on the new Amiga they want users to purchase a $50.00 coupon from the Amiga Anywhere Shop. This coupon will entitle you to $50 off the price of AmigaOne/ AmigaOS 4.0. However, before Amiga users bust open their piggy banks I thought it would be appropriate to provide a guide to AmigaOne, so you'll better understand the gains of becoming an AmigaOne user.
